Last time in my PC-building adventures, I apparently forgot to update things! This seems like a bit of an oversight, because it’s occasionally useful to know what’s actually in both of my franken-boxes. Micro Center is where it’s at; as usual.
[Note this is written / published in the midst of the great GPU/CPU shortage of 2021, so it doesn’t reflect any of that in any way — these changes were made back in … 2019?]
Main box got this stuff:
- AMD Ryzen 7 / 3800X; still using the EVO 212 for cooling. [I see there are many iterations on it now.]
- ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Hero Wi-Fi. [Never did hook up the WiFi.]
- 32GB Corsair RAM RGB Silliness
- LG 16X BRD Burner [Haven’t burned any BRDs.]
In my “Alt” box:
AMD Ryzen 7/3700X [Initially, I moved over my previous CPU (a Ryzen 7/1700, which has since gone off with the previous mainbox board to a co-worker’s child who wanted to build a gaming PC for the first time last year).
- Gigabyte B450 AORUS M Motherboard
- Windows 10
- Nvidia GeForce 710
All this box is for is for puttering with OBS, light video stuff, and light audio / music creation mucking about.
